In the cheese factory established in Szalafő, electric power, large quantity of water, vapor and gas are used for the manufacture of cheese. As by-product of water consumption large quantity of waste water is generated. In order to measure the different kinds of energy sources we have installed an energy monitoring system, which is capable of measure, record and display the extent of energy consumption. The aim of the establishment of the energy monitoring system is to solve measurement-data collection, so that the measured values should serve as accurate comparison basis for possible future modernizations, and the efficiency and the utility of energy supply systems based on newer technologies could be demonstrated.
Accordingly, based on former measurement results we have installed up-to-date, renewing technologies using renewing energy sources taking into account the operation experience in order to ensure the more efficient energy supply of the cheese factory. First of all the considerable hot water demand had to be solved by the construction of solar collectors and a waste heat utilizing system. In case the weather permits, hot water can be generated by the solar collectors, in other cases it is the hot water heat exchanger installed into the chimney of the boiler which uses the waste heat of the exhausting hot combustion gas. 
The central control of the entire system is controlled by a PLC based automation for more effective operation. Calorimeters in the hot water system measure the the heat quantity required by each consumption place. Electric power consumption is measured by a metering system installed according to the different technologies and cost centers in the plant; the network quality parameters are monitored by a network analyzer integrated into the supply.
The display and storage of the measured values is performed by the previously implemented monitoring system. We have installed an AVReporter software package for the analysis of data and to solve the individual queries. The AVReporter connects to the process management, energy monitoring and ERP systems as well. By the help of the AVReporter software special statements can be prepared which show what kind of energy resources, in which proportion and at what cost are used for the production of a unit product. The exact acquisition cost of the product, the quantity of harmful material, such as CO2 emission calculated from energy consumption by product can be also determined. The energy costs related to different cost centers or required for each production phases can be also determined and displayed, as well as the efficiency factors by trending them. AVReporter provides accurate data for the production engineers, electric and economic-financial experts to be able to follow-up continuously the profitability of production. The technologies using renewing energy resources and the statements based on exact factual data help the positioning of the market price of the manufactured product and increase its competitiveness.
